Jamie Picker is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience working with adults, children, and families. She earned her Master’s in Social Work in 1979 from San Diego State University and has been licensed since 1981. She worked for the County of San Diego in Adult and Children’s Conservatorship Program, Child Protective Services, and Mental Health Services from 1979 to 2012. For 17 of those years, she was the Program Manager for the Emergency Screening Unit, a 24/7 psychiatric emergency clinic for children and adolescents. In addition, she was a psychotherapist for PsyCare from 1982 until 2002 and has returned to provide therapy again. She has training in psychodynamic therapy, Gestalt therapy, short-term dynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, chemical dependency evaluation, and trauma informed therapy. Clinical practice includes areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, parent-child conflict, marital conflict and relationship issues. In her practice, she stresses the importance of self-awareness, understanding interpersonal and individual dynamics, and provides good listening and practical approaches to the stresses in everyday life.
