've been a Counselor for about a decade now. I specialize in toxic and abusive relationships. That could be with parents, a romantic partner, or friendships. The relationship between counselor and individual is key. It’s so important to have a trusting bond so I will spend time getting to know you, as well as help. I believe everyone has the power to promote change within themselves but sometimes we all need a little guidance. What an awesome step you’ve made. I know it took courage! I offer a non-judgmental atmosphere because we're all people and we all have pasts. My approach I’m trained in quite a few therapies (cognitive behavioral therapy or CBT is one of them) but the most important thing is finding something that works for you. You’re an individual, so counseling will be tailored to what your specific needs are maybe you don't know what you want/need right now because you've never been to counseling! That's fine, too! My focus If you have been feeling like you are stuck in an exhausting relationship with whomever (parent, partner, friend), I can help you recognize patterns and work to break out of the gaslight and trauma bond. If you feel like you are doing things repeatedly and can't leave the house without doing something until it "feels right," we can work together on creating an exposure plan. My communication style I like direct and open communication. I never judge, and I have truly heard just about everything, so you never have to worry about sharing too much! I know I can get things wrong sometimes, too, so creating an environment where we can have an open conversation about things is so important. My journey to mental healthcare I chose mental health because as a teenager I was struggling and needed someone to talk to, and I didn't have that. I spent about half of my career working with teenagers just like I was before I started also working with adults struggling in abusive and toxic relationships.
