Hello! I'm Jamila and I have been working as a social worker for almost 10 years. I've worked with people from all walks of life facing many different issues. And with this diverse background, I have found some commonalities. Often what we need is a safe, non-judgmental space to make sense of what we feel, find where we are stuck, and learn tools to help us cope more effectively with life's challenges. I am a collaborative and client-centered therapist here to offer this space to people as I support them in pursuing their mental health goals. I serve as a compassionate and honest witness to your experiences and pain as you share stories that shape who you are. I implement behavior based approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to increase your ability to relate to your struggles more effectively and to pursue what matters most to you. My integrated approach to mental health allows you to better understand the experiences that influence your behavior and supports your work to make the changes that you want. I earned my Bachelors of Social Work from Northeastern Illinois University and a Masters of Social Work from Dominican University. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and I bring a thoughtful trauma-informed lens to my work with all people. It can take a lot of courage to acknowledge that you are struggling and to reach out for support. I can help you in taking the next steps towards living the meaningful life that you want.
