Jane Meza, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Jane! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am based in California, and I work with individual clients to address Anxiety, Depression, Stress, and Low Self-Esteem. I like to utilize CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) as my main approach to help reduce symptoms. My approach The approach I use will vary from client to client. I mainly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also like to incorporate distress tolerance skills when I feel it is beneficial to a client. In utilizing both these approaches a client can learn to reduce distressful symptoms. My focus I enjoy working with teens, and adults of all ages. I have found that my approach is helpful for people who are struggling with transitions, depression, anxiety, and stress. My communication style When working with me it is important that I provide a judgement-free environment. This is important in order to help a client open up and discuss their challenges. My tone towards my clients is always calm and supportive. My journey to mental healthcare I first started working as a behaviorist with children in the Autism Spectrum. I then started to work with children who had depression, anxiety, and oppositional defiance diagnoses in residential facilities as well as in their homes. As I continued to work with children I felt limited due to only being able to focus on their behaviors and nothing more. That is when I decided to become a therapist so I can work with clients by also addressing/processing what they have been through in life. My goals for you My approach to goal setting with a client is always to collaborate. It is important to focus on what a client is telling me and address their concerns. It is also important for me to build trust with a client to have a good therapeutic alliance. My first session with you During the first session, I will focus on getting to know a client and understanding what brings them to their therapeutic journey.
