Getting to know Janelle Perry

Hello, my name is Janelle Perry and I'm so excited that you found my profile! I am a dedicated and compassionate mental health therapist committed to providing comprehensive, client-centered care. I hold a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from the City University of New York, Baruch College, which equips me with a strong foundation of knowledge and expertise to support individuals in their journey toward mental well-being. My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based practices, fostering a safe and empathetic space for clients to explore and navigate their challenges. Through collaboration and tailored interventions, I aim to empower clients to achieve personal growth, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Embarking on the path of self-discovery and healing with a mental health counselor is a courageous step. Here's what you should know: • Confidentiality is Paramount: Your privacy is a top priority. Information shared within the therapeutic space is confidential, promoting a safe environment for open dialogue. • Collaborative Approach: Therapy is a collaborative process. Your input is invaluable, and together we'll tailor strategies and interventions to suit your unique needs and goals. • Non-Judgmental Space: This is a judgment-free zone. You can openly express your thoughts and feelings without fear of criticism. We work together to understand and explore, not to judge. • Progress at Your Pace: Healing is a personal journey, and the pace varies for everyone. We'll proceed at a speed that feels comfortable and empowering for you. • Goal-Oriented Focus: Therapy often involves setting and working towards specific goals. These objectives are yours to define, helping to guide our sessions and measure progress. • Reflection and Growth: Therapy provides a space for self-reflection, leading to personal growth and enhanced self-awareness. Embracing this process contributes to lasting positive change. • Effective Communication: Open communication is key. If something isn't working or if you have concerns, sharing them allows for adjustments, ensuring your therapy experience is as beneficial as possible. Remember, you are taking an essential step towards your well-being. Together, we'll navigate challenges and celebrate victories on your journey to a healthier, more fulfilling life

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Seeking support on your mental health journey? Look no further! As a seasoned mental health counselor, I'm thrilled to welcome new clients into a space of understanding and growth. Whether you're navigating life changes, coping with stress, or seeking personal development, my client-centered approach is tailored to your unique needs. Our first session would be considered an "Intake", which is an in-depth clinical interview to fully assess your needs for therapy and gain further knowledge about who you are, to best assist you toward your goals. Together we will develop a treatment plan where we would identify specific goals and desires, and create a plan to execute and achieve those goals! Let's embark on this journey together towards healing and empowerment. Your well-being is my priority!

Janelle was so kind and compassionate. I’ve felt other therapists lacked the compassion element and I felt so supported and cared for during my first session with her. Navigating this devastating moment of my life, I am so thankful to have found her. I searched for a new faith based therapist because I can’t both explain my faith and the difficulties I’m navigating to someone who is supposed to support me. Janelle spoke my language. I felt seen for the first time in a long time. If a provider ever tells you that your faith is you being in denial, run. Go find someone who speaks your language. I’m so looking forward to future sessions with Janelle. I feel safe and seen.
