Getting to know Janet Guthrie

Greetings! My name is Janet. Are you feeling overwhelmed by day-to-day issues? Are you struggling in your relationships or having difficulties communicating with others? Do you just need a safe space to vent? I help support young adults, individuals, and couples who may be dealing with a range of challenges related to trauma, anxiety, and depression. Let's work together to identify solutions that can improve functioning and increase life satisfaction. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Fordham University, which equips me to provide compassionate and effective support tailored to your needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect to work together in our initial session to identify concise goals, and to explore existing barriers as well as viable solutions. Following sessions will include a collaborative effort to develop skills to navigate through challenges and improve functioning.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Very kind, polite, helpful, professional. always willing to help with other resourceful information.
My provider made me feel like I was speaking to a friend, instead of a therapist.
Janet is a very caring person and from the beginning makes you feel welcome.
This was a great first session! Thank you, Janet, for being open-minded and patient with me, I look forward to us working towards better!
Janet was very helpful, warm, and comforting. This is my first time trying therapy and I am 100% positive I want her to be my therapist going forward!
My experience has helped me change my life and help me find ways to cope with from deeply rooted trauma to coping with day to day inconveniences. I have a space where I can be vulnerable and share. This is one of the only providers I was able to make a connection with and engage in therapy. Her style is indescribable in the best way possible. The vast amount to knowledge and approach has helped me a whole not just with coping skills but with life skills, career, interpersonal relationships, family and navigating the world with intersecting identities.
Janet has really been my rock and my solution provider over the past year and a half. Her personality allows me to feel comfortable to speak about any and all things occurring in my life without being judged. I can honestly see the progress with my mental health. I thank her frequently for her expertise and help!
