Hi there, I'm Janice! My name is Janice Heinlen. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Jenison, Michigan, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Central Michigan University. I am passionate about supporting all of my clients through challenges to experience healing and growth in their lives. I will meet you with empathy, open-mindedness, and unconditional positive regard. My approach My approach to therapy is person-centered. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients to identify treatment priorities and create a safe space for all. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) methods to support my clients. My focus I work with children, teens, and adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and social pressures, specializing in girls’ and women’s issues. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, grief, stress, or trauma. I help my clients navigate these transition periods and build skills that allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life. My communication style My communication style is to be an open and safe space for clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything. I will listen without judgment. My journey to mental healthcare I have a passion for helping people and have many personal experiences with career changes, life transitions, being a mother, wife, widow, grief and loss, along with other life issues. I believe my education and experience have made me a more empathetic therapist to help others. My goals for you I work collaboratively with clients to set treatment goals that improve their mental health and life success.
