Getting to know Jaqualine Chapman

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a real, honest conversation—one where you set the direction, and I show up alongside you with warmth, honesty, and a bit of humor along the way. My style blends structure with spaciousness, so we can move between lighter moments and deeper work depending on what you need that day. I work as a relational therapist, which means two things. First, I don't hide behind a purely neutral or clinical role—I show up as a genuine person in our sessions, bringing my own warmth and humanity into the room rather than just observing from a distance. Second, I pay close attention to how you relate to others, as a window into patterns that show up in your life outside of therapy as a tool for insight and change. I also believe in connecting your past to your present, helping you understand not just what keeps you stuck, but why—so that insight can turn into real, lasting change. My goal is to create a space where you feel genuinely seen and safe enough to go beyond surface-level coping and get to the deeper roots of what's going on, so you can move toward more self-understanding, more regulation, and more self-acceptance. Wherever you're starting from, that's exactly where we'll begin.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My path to becoming a mental health provider was both personal and deeply intentional. I was drawn to this field through lived experience and a strong desire to support people as they navigate pain, change, and growth. Early on, I witnessed how unspoken emotional wounds can echo through families—and how healing can begin when someone feels genuinely seen, safe, and supported. Those experiences shaped both my clinical interests and the way I show up as a therapist. Today, my work is collaborative and down-to-earth. I bring both structure and spaciousness into the therapy room, grounded in nervous system awareness, and I offer warmth, sincerity, and gentle humor. Working with me is a collaborative, down-to-earth process. I’m skilled at connecting past experiences to present-day patterns and supporting you in building new ways of thinking, relating, and responding. Progress often shows up as more clarity and self-understanding, nervous system regulation, and fewer overwhelm spirals. I’m a strong fit for people who are ready to go beyond surface-level coping and explore the deeper roots of what keeps them stuck while working toward self-acceptance and healthier relationships. Together, we’ll start noticing patterns and understanding what’s underneath them to feel more regulated, clear, and relieved. I believe that being an effective therapist means being a lifelong learner. I regularly engage in continuing education focused on trauma, neurodivergence, somatic practices, and relational dynamics—areas that reflect the needs of the clients I serve. Above all, I view learning as relational—deepened not just through textbooks, but through presence, dialogue, and a willingness to listen differently.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My goal is to offer real, grounded support for working with the way stress and trauma manifests in all dimensions of life: chronic pain, sleeplessness, struggles in sex and relationships, disordered eating, and behaviors that manifest when we try to self soothe and working on changing them. I utilize and eclectic mix of evidence based practices. I encourage clients to show up as their authentic selves; questioning old belief patterns.
