Psychotherapist
11145 Tampa Ave, Los Angeles, CA
Hi, I’m Jarah. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Haley’s Haven. Many of the people I work with have experienced trauma, difficult relationships, emotional neglect, instability, betrayal, loss, or seasons of life that taught them to stay on guard. You may find yourself overthinking, people-pleasing, shutting down during conflict, struggling to trust, feeling responsible for everyone else’s emotions, or wondering why something that happened years ago still feels so present in your body and relationships. Sometimes the things we call anxiety, avoidance, anger, or “overreacting” started as ways of surviving. My approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, relational, and depth-oriented. Together, we’ll look at what’s underneath the symptom, how your experiences shaped the way you protect yourself, and whether those old survival strategies are still serving you now. Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and honest. I’ll listen deeply, ask questions, notice patterns, offer perspective, and gently challenge you when needed. And yes, there may be laughter somewhere in the middle of the hard stuff. You don’t have to perform, minimize what happened, or have the perfect words. You can come in exactly where you are.

Getting to know Jarah Trenier

Hi, I’m Jarah. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Haley’s Haven. Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and honest. I’ll listen deeply, ask questions, notice patterns, offer perspective, and gently challenge you when needed. What should a new client know about working with you?

The overthinking. The shutting down. The people-pleasing. The “I’m fine” when you are, in fact, very much not fine. The relationship pattern you swore you would never repeat and somehow… here we are. I’m interested in the why underneath it. I tend to be an active therapist, so I’m not going to quietly nod at you for 50 minutes while you wonder what I’m thinking. I’ll ask questions, connect dots, notice patterns, offer perspective, and gently challenge you when something deserves a closer look. Sometimes I may lovingly point out the thing you were hoping we could just breeze right past. We probably cannot. 😂 I believe in understanding before judging. Most coping strategies made sense somewhere; they helped you stay connected, function, or survive. Therapy is not about shaming those parts of you. It is about understanding what they were protecting and whether you still need them to work so hard. Our sessions can be deep, practical, emotional, funny, uncomfortable, validating, and occasionally all of the above in the same hour. You do not need to show up with perfect insight or the perfect words. Bring the messy version. We can work with that.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll usually begin by getting clear on what is bringing you in, what feels most important right now, and what you hope will feel different as a result of therapy. From there, the work may mean exploring childhood and attachment experiences, noticing relationship patterns, paying attention to what happens in your body, building practical tools for regulation, or slowing down enough to understand an emotion instead of immediately trying to make it disappear. I don’t believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all. Some sessions may be deep and emotional. Others may be practical, reflective, funny, or surprisingly quiet. Therapy tends to move in layers, so we’ll follow what the work needs while keeping sight of why you came.
