Getting to know Jasmine Villalba

I utilize Motivational Interviewing to help clients identify factors that may be hindering their success and to support meaningful, lasting change. I also integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients challenge, reframe, and refocus unhelpful thoughts about themselves and their situations. My approach often includes mindfulness training and guided meditation to help clients build self-awareness, manage stress, and cultivate greater balance and resilience in daily life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our sessions, I take a supportive and collaborative approach, using Motivational Interviewing to help you explore what might be getting in the way of your goals and to discover your own motivation for change. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which means we’ll look at how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we’ll work to challenge unhelpful thoughts, reframe them, and refocus your perspective in ways that feel more supportive and empowering. Mindfulness training and guided meditation are often part of my work as well. These tools can help you stay present, manage stress, and build resilience in your daily life. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and encouraged — and where you can gain practical strategies to help you move forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our sessions together, you can expect a supportive and conversational space where you’ll feel heard and understood. We’ll often start by checking in about how you’re feeling and what’s been happening since our last session. Using Motivational Interviewing, I’ll ask open-ended questions to help you identify what might be getting in the way of your goals and what changes feel important to you right now. We’ll explore these together at your pace. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help you notice and challenge unhelpful thoughts or beliefs. We’ll practice reframing these thoughts so you can see your situation — and yourself — in a healthier, more balanced way. Many sessions include mindfulness exercises or brief guided meditations to help you stay present, reduce stress, and build skills you can use outside of our time together. You’ll leave each session with practical tools or small steps you can try in your daily life. My hope is that you’ll feel supported and empowered, with new insight and strategies to help you move forward. If you’d like, I can adapt this for a handout, website FAQ, or intake packet — just let me know!
