Having worked with a variety of individuals-from children to adolescents and adults-I have been able to assist others in their growth through deep psychological distress and pain. Using a person-centered, mindfulness-based approach, I am skilled at helping individuals and families address anxiety, depression, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, loss of loved ones, addiction, divorce, and phases of life transitions. The general public with non-psychotic/non-psychosis-based diagnoses are generally the population I serve. I am a trained clinician in the Rogerian Person-Centered therapeutic approach, with a significant background in mindfulness-based traditions. I have lived a life that has taught me the value of daily mindfulness practices and have honed my skills at working with others toward deeper self-acceptance. Life has trauma within it, and all are in need of love and compassion. Please, if you are in need of help, contact me.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Although I identify with Christian faith, I also utilize Buddhist and Taoist philosophies in regard to spiritual understanding. Taking an openminded perspective towards assisting others with crises is a skill that I value. All living beings experience suffering and I make an effort to offer support to assist all individuals who seek my counsel. I have significant training in various body conscious mindfulness training such as Meditation, Yoga, Qigong, and Okinawan Karate. Having health of mind, body, and spirit is a life long work requiring effort to notice how to work through the struggles that life bring. Addiction is one aspect of life that many individuals struggle with today. Studies show that introducing mindfulness based training has a significant impact on working with urges to use substance and reframing an individual's self image in regards to the life choices that have been affected by substance use. Through utilizing mindfulness based compassion focused perspective an individual can work with the harsh and critical judgments that may have arisen from traumatic life experiences involved with substance use.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Trust is an essential process of the therapeutic process and it takes time to build. I engage individuals with getting to know their experiences over time and look for specific patterns that cause struggle in their relationships and inner wellbeing. I utilize compassion focused non-judgmental mindfulness training as well as cognitive behavioral educational tools for individuals to work with establishing compassion for internal wellbeing. Through establishing a potential long term therapeutic relationship with individuals in a non-judgmental space, a person can develop a more accepting and loving perspective with their life trauma and their own individual view of themselves. This leads to a more integrated sense of wellbeing and a deeper transformative perspective with one's ability to have compassion for themselves. In regards to children and adolescents, I utilize a variety of play therapy techniques and a non-judgmental approach to work with developing better emotional understanding and healthy interpersonal familial relationships. Anxiety and depression for children can be a significant struggle if gone unaddressed. Using a safe and emotionally supportive environment can be a significant support for children experiencing emotional struggles.
