Jason Roberts, LMHC

Psychotherapist
HI
Hello, my name is Jason Roberts. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Honolulu, Hawaii, and I work with clients across the country via telehealth. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Benedictine University. I work primarily with adults and adolescents who may be trapped in ineffective behavior patterns. My approach I was trained in Rogerian or Client-Centered therapy, but my work is highly integrative. I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT), Psychoanalytic Theory (as a conceptual framework), and Mindfulness. There is no “best approach” to therapy; the best approach is developing a good therapist/client relationship based on trust and open communication. My focus My clientele varies—from individuals to couples to adolescents. I am comfortable with those stuck in ineffective behavior patterns, prisoners to limiting belief systems, and those who might benefit from seeing their situation from an alternate vantage point. My communication style I am straightforward and direct. Sessions with me feel like authentic conversations, and I never see myself as the “expert.” You are the expert of all things uniquely YOU. I will challenge you and ask questions that might make you uncomfortable. Growth often happens just outside our comfort zone. My journey to mental healthcare I don’t think I ever had a choice about entering this field—I’ve always been drawn to authenticity and the desire to help. What drives me is the gratitude I feel for being able to help someone. My goals for you Goal setting is collaborative and only possible once we meet and get to know each other. I will help you clarify what is important to you, then address barriers, obstacles, and pathways to your goals. My first session with you Clients should expect a comfortable, casual atmosphere without pretense.
