Jason Shaw, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
Hello, I'm Jason. For the past decade, I've dedicated myself to working as a crisis and trauma counselor for youth, particularly in schools and foster care settings. My approach is deeply influenced by Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), a methodology developed by Texas Christian University. TBRI is designed to help children from challenging backgrounds develop new ways to grow and thrive post-trauma. It focuses on understanding the whole person, examining how past experiences shape current relationships and needs. This holistic perspective is central to my practice. Before becoming a counselor, I spent eight years as an early childhood teacher. This experience honed my skills in time management and stress management, both of which are crucial in my current work. I'm also a Licensed Professional Counselor and am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Biblical Counseling. I believe that a strong faith foundation is essential for overcoming life's stresses and fostering a positive outlook. In my practice, I specialize in a range of areas including anger management, anxiety, children's and adolescent mental and behavioral health, depression, family relationships, grief and bereavement, spirituality, stress, and trauma. I also offer SonderMind Video Telehealth sessions for those who prefer or require remote therapy. I integrate various therapeutic models into my work, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, grief models, and trauma models. My goal is to help you find hope and healing, no matter what challenges you're facing. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy sports, reading, art, gardening, and research. I believe that engaging in healthy hobbies is a wonderful way to de-stress and find joy and fulfillment. If you're looking for support and guidance, I'm here to help. Let's work together to navigate your journey toward healing and growth.
