Jason Weiss, LPC

Jason Weiss, LPC

Psychotherapist
2835 N Sheffield Ave, Suite 402, Chicago, IL
I provide therapy to adults and teens experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, and identity struggles who are looking to develop coping skills and healthier patterns. Having unwanted thoughts and feelings can make us feel trapped in our own head and body. It can be hard to zoom out and see the bigger picture and center ourselves firmly on the ground. This can start an avoidance cycle where we don't address these issues but instead tolerate them, often until we get exhausted. If you're reading this, you might be thinking that it's finally time you tackle these issues and you don't want to do it alone. I value creativity and the individual self. I never believe there is a problem without a solution, and I find that flexibility and creativity are often the answer. Sometimes we need some help seeing things from a new perspective to find that answer. My goal is to have therapy match your needs and style, so every person I work with receives a unique approach. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling from Northern Illinois University, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support you effectively on your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use ACT coupled with mindfulness techniques to help people feel more emotionally centered and create a freedom in their mind that allows for clear thinking. I worked in research labs studying resilience, prejudice, and LGBT issues for six years, so I always love to bring in the latest research to help improve our relationship with our mind and body.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I value creativity and the individual self. I never believe there is a problem without a solution, that flexibility and creativity are often the answer. Sometimes we need some help seeing things from a new perspective to find that answer. My goal is to have therapy match your needs and style, so every person I work with receives a unique approach. We'll start with a consultation session to determine if it feels like a good fit. Going forward from there, we can identify a time and day that will work regularly each week.
