Hi there, I'm Jason! Hello, I'm Jason Williams, and I am pleased to have the opportunity to work with you. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2017. I earned my MEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University. My approach to counseling is eclectic, with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as my primary theoretical framework. I like to work with clients who may have issues with anxiety, depression, and anger. My approach As I shared, I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT), so the focus of my sessions is on the thoughts that may trigger feelings related to anxiety and depression. My focus I enjoy working with adults from diverse backgrounds. My communication style I've been told that I am very easy to talk to, as my style of counseling is largely conversational. There are times when I use homework and journaling for my clients, depending on the counseling relationship dynamic. I tend to incorporate psychoeducation about CBT and how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. My journey to mental healthcare A common thread throughout my life has been that various people have told me I am "easy to talk to." In their explanations as to why they feel that way, it usually relates back to the point that I come across as very non-judgmental. People seem to find comfort in being able to authentically present themselves without fear of being "judged." I have always been interested in the "human condition," and I've always had an interest in the thought patterns that lead to why we make certain choices in our lives, whether to our benefit or detriment. My interest in this led me to decide that counseling would be my best path in helping others. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is a collaborative effort between myself and the client, where we work together to formulate goals that are realistic and measurable.
