“I don't know what I would do without Dr. Murray. Besides being completely patient and kind, she listens...REALLY listens to you. It's so nice to get things off my chest without feeling so guilty or stressed about what the other person would say. I can laugh, cry and feel like falling apart but she is right there lifting me up when I need it most...more than any one has done in a long time. My life has been so much better since I've had my sessions with Dr. Murray. She makes me feel like I'm talking to a friend. There's no judgement, no name calling just complete help and understanding sometimes. She is literally my life saver and I always look forward to seeing and speaking with her. Thank you so much Dr. Jaye! ”

Getting to know Jaye Murray

After over twenty-five years of experience, I have learned that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment and care. You are a person-not a condition, a disorder, or a diagnosis. In our time together, you will, at your own pace, let me get to know you: the you that you have been, the you that you are, and the you that you are striving to be. Let's face it-life gets in the way of achieving that balance between wants and have-to's, between the past and the present, the losses and the victories, the pains and the pleasures. This is not about finding out what is "wrong" but about having a safe space to explore what is right and what barriers might be keeping you from accessing that more readily. If you are unsure about the online/virtual modality, I have found that 95% of my clients who have accessed therapy through my online platform have found it successful, as it more easily fits into one's schedule and eliminates the need to find parking. Give it a try and decide for yourself. Times are changing. And isn't it all about change? I hold a Master's in Social Work from Fordham University and a Master's in Writing from Manhattanville College, which together inform my holistic and personalized approach to care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

For those who have been nervous to meet a therapist for the first time, each and every one of those people who have said that to me at their first session, have said they quickly felt at ease before we were mid-way through. I am not here to analyze you or to tell you what is wrong. I am not here to judge you or correct you. We are here to talk to each other. And if you are looking for a therapist who will just nod their head, affirm you and listen, that is not me., I am interactive and right in there with you in this process. I even give homework. Couples in relationship/marriage counseling find this especially helpful in that our work together is not about me being a referee to your disagreements. We work on skills and solutions and you are often given assignments and skills to practice between sessions. I integrate humor, compassion, insight and encouragement. If I had a bumper sticker slogan for my practice it might be "what are we going to do about it?" We must do something. While stillness, and contemplation is often necessary and a key to one's growth, staying stagnant is not an option. Together we will make plans for your personal success, well-being and most of all, peace. .

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You set goals. We reach them. If you stay steady with your sessions and do the work in between, you will achieve your goals. We will talk. We will laugh. We will analyze. We will feel. We will smile. We will frown. Eyes may fill with tears either from pain or from a good joke. (or a bad joke depending on which one of us told it) We will go through the full range of emotions and come our the other side with greater insight-- with enhanced knowledge of and appreciation for self.

Thank you so much Dr. Jaye!
Jaye has the unique ability to connect quickly with others and provide actionable strategies to make real change in your life! Wonderful therapist!
Jaye goes above and beyond for her clients. She really has a way with her words. She suggests meaningful readings, videos, and podcasts to coincide with your therapy work.
I started therapy with Jaye at a very low point in my life and with her constant encouragement, support, common sense and humor helped “me” find “me” again. I worked very hard to get my life back on track and will always be thankful for having this amazing therapist walk the path with me.
Jaye is terrific at pointing out the patterns or issues that a couple can take for granted. She possesses the right of compassion and directness, both of which are equally important when communicating on such an intimate level. I truly appreciate Jaye's insight and suggestions and highly recommend her to anyone in need.
Jaye is a no non-sense kind of therapist who is also encouraging, and positive. I was comfortable with her within the first visit. Her group sessions are also helpful. She is always on time to start and end a session.
I can appreciate how I'm challenged and steered in a direction that is fair not only to myself but how I manage and my emotions . I struggled alot and won't say I still don't but at least I have some tools to get to a better space mentally.
