Psychotherapist
TX
I am so glad you are here. Maybe this is your first time considering therapy, or maybe you have outgrown your former therapist and need a fresh perspective. Whatever the specifics of your journey, I hope you find a good match to support you as you take these next steps. My approach I am trained in five modes of therapy, and you and I will decide together which one is the best fit for you, although likely we will use some aspects of all of them. Together, we will form a plan that combines healing from past wounds, coping with everyday stressors, incorporating self-care on a regular basis, and building resilience. This will equip you to meet the next stage of your life, whatever that looks like for you. My focus I specialize in depression and anxiety, both trauma-based and generalized, with special interests in grief, religious trauma, and LGBTQ+ issues. I can help you work through guilt, shame, and fear so you can overcome self-judgment and meet your authentic self with love and acceptance. My communication style My communication style is positive and encouraging. By this, I do not mean simply minimizing the negative and focusing on the positive. I mean being forthright about the impact of the problems, and being equally upfront about identifying and building on the strengths you already have. Developing those strengths fully will equip you to take on those problems, at a pace that works for you. My journey to mental healthcare Like many therapists, I pursued this vocation because therapy has been and continues to be so immensely helpful in my own life. This means that I can relate to many of your struggles because I have experienced them myself. It also means that I consciously make space in my personal life to process my own issues, so you can trust that during our sessions, I will be fully focused on you. My goals for you I like to start by visualizing the big picture. What does your ideal life look like? I believe there is power in dreaming big.
