It is truly an honor to accompany clients on their journey within. I sincerely believe that within each of us is the wisdom, strength, and courage to create the life we want. As partners, we can find solutions that work for you. I offer each of my clients a safe space to explore their feelings and examine their lives. If you wish, this can also include learning tools and strategies to help you overcome difficult thoughts and introduce new perspectives to alleviate pressures you may be facing. Our relationship will always include my sincere respect for your self-determination and the intrinsic knowledge you have of your own life. I specialize in supporting individuals who may struggle with life's transitions due to its ever-changing nature. Quite often, this may cause varying levels of anxiety, depression, or family conflict that we can work through together. I usually work with older adolescents and emerging adults using culturally sensitive cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and solution-focused therapies. In addition, one of the most powerful tools we will use in working toward your healing is the trusting relationship we create and the safe space we maintain together. Prior to becoming a therapist at the Chicago Institute for Change, I worked for ten years in higher education as an Academic Advisor and Adjunct Professor. Developing relationships with students and coming to understand their mental health needs inspired me to pursue my Master's in Social Work at the University of Illinois, Chicago, Jane Addams College of Social Work. In my spare time, I like to spend time with the people I love. This especially includes my new husband, best friends, and loving family members. Every day, I strive for balance by attempting to live my values and giving myself self-compassion when it's hard to do so. I love to dance, make people laugh, eat dessert first, and enjoy life as much as possible. :)
