Psychotherapist
TX
When my children died, everything I thought I knew about myself shattered. The grief was crushing, but what followed was equally devastating: my conservative Christian faith, the foundation I'd built my entire life on, offered no comfort, only hollow platitudes. I faced not just unbearable loss, but a spiritual crisis that left me questioning everything. My healing journey led me somewhere unexpected, psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. As someone who grew up with DARE and "Just Say No," this wasn't easy. But the transformation was undeniable. It gave me tools that traditional therapy alone couldn't provide. That experience is why I became the therapist I am today. In 2024, I graduated from the California Institute of Integral Studies' Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies program, not to add another credential but because I'd experienced firsthand how this approach can heal wounds that seem impossible to bear. I specialize in three areas where I bring lived experience: traumatic grief (especially child loss), religious trauma and faith deconstruction, and psychedelic integration. I work with the bereaved carrying unimaginable loss, ex-evangelicals wrestling with guilt after leaving faith, and individuals making sense of profound psychedelic experiences. I've been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas for 25+ years and a Counselor Supervisor for 10+ years. I'm certified in EMDR and hypnotherapy. My most valuable qualification: I've sat exactly where my clients sit. I know what it's like when grief rewrites your identity, when leaving your faith feels like losing your family, and when a transformative experience leaves you struggling to integrate it. If you've felt other therapists don't truly "get it," that's because these wounds require someone who has walked the same path. I'm not here to fix you, you're not broken. I'm here to help you carry what you're carrying with grace, rebuild an authentic identity, and find meaning in what has fundamentally changed you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me means you don't have to explain why your grief still feels overwhelming years later, or why you can't just "go back to church," or why a psychedelic experience left you feeling both transformed and confused. I understand because I've lived it. In our sessions, I'll share parts of my own story, not to center myself but so you know you're working with someone who truly gets it. This isn't about me being the expert on your life; it's about me being someone who has navigated similar terrain and can walk alongside you. My approach integrates multiple therapeutic modalities: narrative therapy (because the stories we tell ourselves matter), existential therapy (because these wounds often shake our sense of meaning and purpose), EMDR (particularly effective for trauma processing), and mindfulness-based practices. If you're interested in psychedelic integration, I provide specialized support for preparing for, processing, and integrating consciousness-expanding experiences. But here's what matters most: I don't believe in "fixing" you. The goal isn't to "get over" your loss or "move on" from your pain. It's to learn to carry your grief with grace, to rebuild an authentic sense of self after faith deconstruction, and to ground profound insights from psychedelic experiences into meaningful life changes. I offer telehealth throughout Texas and accept most major insurance including United, Cigna, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Aetna. I also work with Alma and Headway for billing support. You'll find that our work together is both deeply honest and genuinely hopeful, not the toxic positivity kind of hope, but the kind that comes from sitting with someone who has been in the depths and found a way through.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is about connection and assessment. I'll share enough of my story so you understand why I do this work and why I'm qualified to help with your specific pain. We'll talk about what brought you here whether it's the loss of someone irreplaceable, the crisis of leaving your faith, or trying to integrate an experience that changed how you see the world. I won't offer quick fixes or empty reassurances. Instead, we'll start mapping out what healing actually looks like for you. This means understanding not just your current pain, but how it connects to your life story, your identity, and your sense of meaning. In subsequent sessions, we'll use whatever therapeutic approaches fit your needs. For traumatic grief, this can involve narrative work to reconstruct your identity after loss, or existential exploration to find meaning in what feels meaningless. For religious trauma, we work on deconstructing harmful beliefs, processing guilt and anger, and rebuilding an authentic spiritual or philosophical framework that actually fits who you are. For psychedelic integration, we focus on grounding profound insights into practical life changes, making sense of difficult or confusing experiences, and ensuring that transformation translates into sustainable growth. Clients often tell me that the most valuable part of our work is finally being able to stop explaining themselves. You can bring your whole story: the pain, the anger, the confusion, the hope, and know that I genuinely understand. That's not something every therapist can offer, and it makes all the difference.
