Getting to know Jeffrey Ray

I promise to be there for you every step of your journey. I will work with you to develop goals that help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life. With over three decades of counseling experience, I offer effective outpatient, individualized counseling for a variety of issues including ADHD, anxiety, depression, anger management, parenting, behavior problems, coping skills, stress management, grief, and more. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling and Human Development from Troy University. As a licensed mental health counselor, I provide counseling services but am not able to prescribe medication or offer medication management.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a cognitive behavioral therapist, I strive to help clients develop and practice new coping and problem-solving skills to better manage their mood and improve functioning in daily life. The process starts with an assessment followed by the cooperative development of short and long term goals to address the stated needs of the client. We then work together to explore how the client is functioning in various settings and ways to improve the quality of life. As a client, you should expect to be able to develop skills to better manage depression, anxiety, anger and stress. As the parent of a client, you should expect an improvement in emotional regulation, behavior, cooperation and school performance. As a cognitive behavioral therapist, I provide counseling services but am not able to prescribe medication.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma therapy, infant mental health, grief work, ADHD treatment, telehealth, and child and adolescent treatment. I use evidenced based practices presented through a variety of activities, especially with children and adolescents. I can work closely with your pediatrician, family practitioner or psychiatrist if desired and permitted. For parents struggling with their child's behavior, I offer parenting sessions to help eliminate tantrums/meltdowns and improve behavior in the home, school and day care.

Dr Ray really helped my daughter in the time she was seen by him. She has come out of her shell more and really enjoyed her appointments and looked forward to them each week. She felt seen and heard and I really appreciate everything he taught her in a short period of time!
We LOVE mr.Ray! I saw him when I was a child and my two oldest saw him for over a year and did very well with his treatment plans. He’s very straightforward and definitely knows what’s he’s doing! He doesn’t leave you hanging not knowing what to do and he gives you updates to how sessions went. I highly recommend him for your counseling needs !
