Jennie Murdock, LCSW

Psychotherapist
UT
Hi there, I'm Jennie! If you have been in and out of therapy over a long period of time & been less than satisfied with results, then I welcome you to consider choosing me as a provider. I am often seen as a therapist of "last resort" for very complicated trauma situations and I receive great satisfaction helping my clients unravel the mysteries of their life stories. My focus I realize that deciding to look at your past in order to make sense of your present life and create a more hopeful, meaningful future takes a lot of courage, commitment and insight. I love working with clients who are ready to dig deep, be brave and face the "scary things" that have been holding them back. In that process, I am like a midwife. My approach I believe that we must go beyond just "talk", because effective therapy is a synthesis of mind/heart/body work. Those 3 brain centers...in the mind, heart and gut.... must all be connected into a cohesive whole in order to unravel the stuck points in one's life story. Growth happens when we tap into the hidden parts of our past and create meaning. My communication style I believe in being very straightforward about therapy and am an open book in willingness to answer any question the client puts before me. Integrity is integral to the process. I expect the client to be the same way as they face their own "shadow side" and roadblocks. Clients will progress much faster when they have courage to do the "hard things". My journey to mental healthcare As a child, I really wanted to be an archaeologist, but soon decided that wouldn't be practical for my future life. When I became a therapist and discovered body work as a key component of effective therapy, I realized I was actually doing "somatic archaeology". I love to help clients "dig" into the hidden parts of their life and create meaning.
