Getting to know Jennifer Alamia

Hello, I'm Jennifer, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). My intention is to compassionately serve those struggling with trauma of all types, working towards relief and release of trauma’s grip. I believe in meeting people exactly where they are, without judgment or criticism, recognizing that each of us has the desire to connect, be seen, be heard, and be made whole again. I obtained my Master's in Counseling in 2004, and since then, I've gained extensive clinical experience across the developmental lifespan. My journey has led me to work with at-risk youth and families, those in the foster care system, helping professionals from various backgrounds, undocumented individuals striving to maintain family connectedness, and seniors facing end-of-life issues. Along the way, I've supported survivors of abuse, clients dealing with separation and divorce, complicated grief and loss, anxiety, depression, unresolved heartache, and emotional pain. In our sessions, I will work with you relationally to help you learn more about yourself, manage conflict in relationships, and communicate your needs in a mutually supportive way. I am skilled at holding space for others and trust in each individual’s unique process of recovery and healing. I am trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Restorative Practices (RP), and mindfulness strategies. These, along with other theoretical frameworks, will be used to tailor treatment to your distinct counseling needs. As a certified Yin Yoga instructor, I welcome all to participate in pausing, being in the present moment, and reconnecting with your body in sustaining and meditative ways. When I'm not working, you can find me cooking, exploring the mountains, practicing yoga, or turkey trotting with my Chocolate Lab, Samson.
