Getting to know Jennifer Bagwell

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 24 years of experience focusing on the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders and aging. My experience also includes working with many demographics including women, men, and adults. In my sessions, I focus on using evidence-based techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, stress management, relaxation techniques, and motivational interviewing in order to help clients improve their adjustments to transitions and to lessen their experience of anxiety and depression. I often work with clients to address life transitions, interpersonal conflict, and issues related to aging. My counseling style is interactive and supportive. Many of my clients have said they better understand themselves and others and how to better manage their difficulties. I take the time to build authentic relationships with my clients. For me, it’s an honor to help others! In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and pets and to read. My favorite quote is “I have always believed, and still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value” by Hermann Hesse because I believe there is growth and opportunity in all experiences. Since graduating from Tulane University School of Social Work in 1997, I have been working in various fields of social work, dedicated to clinical outpatient and residential psychotherapy. I have vast experience working with individuals, couples, and families specializing in anxiety, depression, grief, and eating issues. I am licensed in Florida. For the past 22 years, I have been working in private practice in South Florida. My current role as a therapist on TotalLife.com enables me to focus on my passion to support older adults and that’s important to me because I value their life experiences and perspectives.
