Getting to know Jennifer Barletta

As a licensed therapist with a Certificate in Mental Health Counseling from Sage Graduate Schools, I am here to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Whether you’re facing challenges from trauma, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, relationship issues, or simply seeking personal growth, therapy can help you gain clarity, develop coping strategies, and create positive change in your life. Together, we’ll work to uncover your strengths, navigate obstacles, and build the resilience you need to thrive. I'm here to support you every step of the way. I integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches to offer a highly personalized treatment plan tailored to align with your goals. We can work together utilizing practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). In addition to these conventional methods, I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients experiencing a variety of challenges. EMDR is based on the idea that trauma can overwhelm the brain's normal processing mechanisms, causing memories to become "stuck" and remain emotionally charged. By reprocessing these memories with bilateral stimulation, the brain can integrate them more adaptively, reducing their negative emotional impact. EMDR can be a relatively quick and effective way to address trauma, with some people seeing significant improvements after only a few sessions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often describe me as warm, attentive, and down-to-earth. I take a collaborative approach to therapy—you're the expert on your life, and I'm here to help you make sense of your experiences, build coping strategies, and work toward your goals at a pace that feels right for you. My sessions are structured but flexible, balancing space for exploration with practical tools for change. I draw from evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and EMDR, and tailor treatment to each individual’s needs. Whether you're new to therapy or returning after time away, I strive to make the process feel safe, empowering, and meaningful.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, I take time to really get to know you—what brings you to therapy, what challenges you're facing, and what goals you’d like to work toward. We’ll talk through your history, current stressors, and strengths, and I’ll answer any questions you have about the therapeutic process. From there, I collaborate with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that fits your needs. Typical sessions often include a mix of reflection, skill-building, and problem-solving. I integrate evidence-based practices like CBT and DBT to help you manage emotions, change unhelpful patterns, and build healthier relationships. If trauma is part of your story, EMDR may be introduced once a solid foundation of trust and stability is established. Every session is shaped by your needs, and I work to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to grow.

Jennifer is the best therapist I have ever worked with, and I've worked with dozens. She is highly practical, a great listener, a believer in taking action and accountability to make significant changes. I would HIGHLY recommend if anyone out there is struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD or looking for general life coaching to meet with Jennifer ASAP.
Jen was the best counselor I have ever had. I immediately felt comfortable around her and comfortable sharing things with her that I have never told anyone before and I am a very reserved person. Jen has a very soft comforting side and knows how to comfort you when you need it but also has a side that is tough and tells you what you need to hear and not what you want to hear and that is what I truly needed. I will forever be grateful for Jen I hope she knows how much of an impact she made on my life and how much she is appreciated! -Former client/patient
Jennifer is the absolute best of the best. I’ve been seeing her now for over a year and she makes me feel so seen and heard. She has gone through similar things I have throughout life so I never feel alone when I express what I’m going through. She doesn’t just listen to what I have to say and nod her head, she pushes me to be better and use strategies to make my journey through life easier. Would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat!
Jen has been such an important part of my healing journey. From the very first session, she made me feel safe, heard, and supported. She’s kind, patient, and truly cares about her clients. I’m so thankful that I found her, and would highly recommend Jen to anyone looking for a therapist who is skilled in working through trauma and with EMDR.
She was very understanding. Listened to everything I had to say and was kind and patient. Her advice was always welcoming to me personally as she led me out of very depressing times. She was very patient with me as I talked on and on and remembered problems every time I was back to see her. I have been to many and she was the only one I ever would continue to see. I highly would recommend her to anyone!! Thank you Jennifer for you kindness, patience, understanding and care.
