Getting to know Jennifer Bergstresser

Counseling in a safe space to identify and explore the things that keep you stuck or prevent you from living the life you want to lead. A safe, non-judgmental environment allows you to find or enhance motivation for change and identify choices that may have been overlooked or seen as impossible in the past. Many people entering therapy feel overwhelmed or find themselves at a crossroads, needing to adapt to new circumstances or adjust to uncomfortable changes in employment, relationships, or loss. I am an LCSW with experience in outpatient counseling, grief and loss, drug and alcohol use, and have worked with unaccompanied minors from Central America. My therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Expressive Art Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Susquehanna University and a Master's in Social Work from Marywood University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC).

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide a safe and positive space for clients to work on difficult issues and identify new directions that may not have been considered previously. I work with enhancing motivation for changes that clients decide they want to make in their lives so they can more fully utilize strengths and improve relationships.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

This provider was unable to address my presenting problem. We met three times and I had to describe my presenting issue three times as well as my desired goal which was learning some new coping techniques to address my issue. During our third session, she said she didn't know how to help me. I appreciate her honesty but I described the same issues at each visit. I wish she was more up front about her capabilities and limitations. I
