“I wasn't in crisis when I reached out. I was just tired of being so far inside my own head and never actually changing. Jennifer's approach is unlike any therapy I'd tried and I'd tried a lot. There's a precision to it that appealed to the part of me that's always asking why. But it also reached past that part, which is where I actually needed the work. I leave sessions feeling something is shifted, not just vented and analyzed.”

“I came in skeptical. I'm a physician. I wanted someone who wouldn't talk down to me or hand me a breathing exercise and call it a day. Jennifer didn't. She met me exactly where I was and the work was genuinely rigorous. DBR reached something I didn't even know I was holding. Six months later, I'm less reactive at work, I'm sleeping, and I'm not running on cortisol and caffeine to feel functional. I didn't know that was possible.”

Getting to know Jennifer Budhan

You've done the work. You understand your patterns. And you still react, still brace, still can't quite get out of your own way.Soulful Flow Counseling works with high-functioning adults in New York and Massachusetts who are self-aware and still stuck. People who hold everything together for everyone else and are quietly exhausted by it.Using EMDR, Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), and somatic approaches, we work at the level of the nervous system — where the stuckness actually lives. Not your mind. Your body, replaying outdated information as if it were current truth. This is precise, body-based work for people who are ready to stop managing and start shifting.

What should a new client know about working with you?

This isn't talk therapy. I don't sit back and reflect your words back to you. I'm here with you — present, clinically precise, and genuinely invested in what moves and what doesn't. From the first session, we slow down enough to hear what your nervous system has been trying to tell you. We work with EMDR, Deep Brain Reorienting, and somatic approaches — tools that reach the places insight alone can't. You'll be met at the level you're already at. No explaining yourself from scratch. No starting over.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin by mapping what's not moving — the patterns that make sense on paper but still run your life. From there, the work goes deeper. EMDR helps reprocess the experiences still shaping your present. Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) reaches the earliest layers of the nervous system — where fear, shame, and old survival strategies are wired. Somatic work helps your body do what your mind has already understood. Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes. 1-5 day Intensives are available for clients ready to concentrate the work and build real momentum. This isn't maintenance. It's lasting change.

I came in skeptical. I didn't know that was possible.
I did an intensive about eight months after my mother died. I didn't fully understand what having 15 hours of concentrated time with the grief would do, I just knew I needed something. Grief doesn't go away. I'm not saying that. But I'll find myself thinking about my mom now and smiling, instead of that wave of heaviness that used to hit me every time. That feels huge.
I did a therapy intensive with Jennifer. I was terrified to commit that much time and depth. It was the best decision I've made for myself in a decade. I don't know if weekly therapy could have shifted what changed in those two weeks. Jennifer held the whole thing with such steadiness. I actually feel different and lighter in my day to day, no longer struggling with the triggers that have haunted me for years.
After a traumatic birth experience, I was carrying so much fear, tension, and guilt in my body. DBR with Jennifer helped me access parts of that memory I couldn’t even name, and gently release the shock I was still holding. I can finally talk about my birth story without shutting down, and I feel safer in my body again.
I started working with Jennifer because I was completely burned out at work. I was overcommitted, overwhelmed, and felt like everything was out of control. Through our sessions, I learned how to listen to myself and set limits without guilt. When I switched jobs, I was able to practice healthy work-life boundaries from the start. Things feel more manageable now, and I don’t feel so consumed by work.
I came to therapy years after a traumatic event in college that I thought I had “moved on” from, but the panic, constant anxiety, and heaviness were still there. EMDR with Jennifer helped clear those symptoms in a way talk therapy never had. I feel lighter, more in control, and like that experience no longer defines me.
I came to therapy because I kept falling for people who didn’t want what I wanted. It was killing my self-esteem. Through our work, I learned how my attachment style—something I’d never really knew about—came from childhood. Jennifer helped me see it without shame, especially around the parts of me that were pretty codependent. A year later, I’m in a relationship that feels healthy and mutual. It’s such a relief to finally be on the same page with someone. I know this work helped get me here.
I was nervous to try EMDR virtually, but it’s been life-changing. Jennifer creates such a safe space—even through a screen. My relationships are healthier now, and I’ve stopped constantly second-guessing myself.
I didn’t realize how much my codependency was running my life until I began therapy. The somatic approaches and EMDR work we did online was surprisingly powerful. For the first time, I’m making decisions based on what I want, not just to keep others happy
I am so appreciative to Jennifer for the years of consistent support she gave me as my therapist. She helped me learn several strategies to cope with stress, anxiety, and depression that I still utilize regularly. She was always professional, showed care and empathy, and helped me work through some hard conversations grow as a person. I always felt completely comfortable sharing with her because she is so open and never made me feel judged for anything I said or did. I just accomplished a large academic achievement that I feel I had the tools to be successful in because of Jennifer’s work. I wish I could still see her as my therapist now but I no longer live in the same state. I recommend her services without hesitation.
In a moment of desperation during the height of the pandemic, I set up an introductory call with Jennifer. After that first call I knew that she would play a significant role in my life -- and she has! Over the past 4.5 years, she has been instrumental in helping me process and heal past traumas, navigate current life challenges, and celebrate major milestones. Jennifer's approach is both professional and compassionate; leveraging her clinical expertise and personal experiences to tailor her care for each client. Before working with Jennifer, I struggled to find a therapist who invested in my growth beyond talk therapy. Jennifer provided that and so much more! So if you're someone who has been on the fence or have had bad experiences with therapy in the past, I highly recommend you set up an appointment with Jennifer. You'll see for yourself, as I did, how invaluable it is to have someone like Jennifer on your team and the remarkable impact she can have on your life.
Jennifer is a warm and compassionate therapist who helps me navigate life's challenges with greater understanding and resilience. She creates a safe and supportive space for me to process my emotions and learn more about myself. I appreciate her holistic approach and expertise in specific techniques, like EMDR and meditation. I've found her focus on autonomy to be especially empowering. I highly recommend Jennifer to anyone looking for a therapist who can help them understand themselves better and make choices that support their wellbeing.
Jennifer helped me navigate many major life transitions with compassion and helped me develop tools to use going forward. She is thoughtful, kind, and practical - her advice and strategies are realistic and can fit within your regular life. I so enjoyed my time with her and feel like she set me up for success without her.
I began working with Jennifer at a time when my anxiety and depression had reached their peak. From the very start, she created a safe, creative, and empathetic space that allowed me to open up and explore the depths of my emotional struggles. What stood out the most in our sessions was how we delved into past traumas that I had never considered as influential in my self-soothing patterns. After seeing Jennifer for years, I am still regularly shocked by the changes I see in myself. She has helped me question the negative narratives in my head which has fully transformed the way I feel and interact with the world around me.
Therapy has helped a lot in many ways. It's simply nice to have someone to talk to. As a single person who was living alone in a city far away from my friends and family, it felt like an additional level of emotional support that I could have. It also helped me to contextualize events in my life and emotions I was experiencing. It also helped to validate and affirm some of the thoughts I had that I felt I couldn't express. I was in the middle of a bad relationship when I began therapy and it gave me the courage and ability to speak up for my own needs in that relationship and eventually leave it and be independent.
