Hello! My name is Jennifer, and I live in Missouri. I am glad you have taken the time to read a little bit about me and what I can offer. First, I fully believe that authenticity is one of the most important things we can offer to ourselves and others. I am a clinician who is 'what you see is what you get.' I won't be dressed in fancy clothes and I will never act as if I am above or better than you, because I'm not. I am a real human who wants to help other humans get to the place where they can live their best life. I was called to be a clinician. I have a history of drug and alcohol addiction (sober for 20 years and clean for 23) and that shaped who I am and how I see the world. I became a Christian when I was 21 and work to be non-judgmental and I really do love all people. I started my career at Crowder College in Nevada, Missouri, where I received my General Education degree. I then received a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Pittsburg State University in 2008 and went on to get my Master's degree from Missouri State University. I worked at a local behavioral health hospital for 10 years, doing therapy with the residential children. This opportunity gave me extensive experience with the foster care system, military families, extensive trauma work, and a unique outlook on therapy—one where you join with the client. I freely share the information I've gained in my therapy journey and help the client learn, grow, and hopefully see things from a different perspective. I do not know it all nor do I have all the answers, but I will do my best to help you in any way I can. I am trained in DBT, EMDR, and Play Therapy. I use all of these to create a unique approach to help my clients set boundaries, figure out what brought them to where they are, and work together to create their life worth living. My specialties include addiction, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, children's mental/behavioral health, adolescent & teen mental/behavioral health, depression, grief/bereavement, life transitions, OCD, phobias, PTSD, psychosis/schizophrenia, somatic symptom disorder, stress, suicidal ideation and/or self-harming, and trauma. I also offer SonderMind Video Telehealth for those who prefer or require remote sessions. I currently live in a small rural town with my husband of 12 years, our 20-year-old son (who is in college for business), and our 10-year-old daughter. We have a mini Dachshund who is 9 (her name is Ardie), a mini Cockapoo who is 1 (her name is Ali), and a beautiful yellow Parrotlet who is 3 (her name is Lettie). I appreciate the time you took to read this, and I look forward to working with you. If I don't, then I hope you find someone who is a perfect fit and that you can gain everything you need from therapy.
