Getting to know Jennifer Daigle

PLEASE NOTE: * The appointment you make will be for a consultation call at the scheduled time at no cost to you. The initial session will follow! * I am only able to see CT residents at this time. * If you are in network with Husky, be aware that even though you may be electing to self-pay, Husky only allows their patients to see in-network providers, and using self-pay while in network with Husky insurance would be considered insurance fraud. Welcome! I'm Jennifer, the face behind JD Counseling & Psychotherapy, LLC. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and two Master’s degrees from the University of Saint Joseph—in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. Though I technically specialize in OCD, anxiety, phobias, and other school/work/life issues, you could say I'm a specialist in fear. Fear is such a unique part of our human nature; it drives what we do and what we avoid. For many of my clients, fear has become such a big part of their lives that it keeps them from feeling confident, happy, or reaching their goals. I've come to know fear like the back of my hand, and though it can seem daunting to face fear, it is something that can be controlled. I use techniques such as CBT, ERP, and ACT to help my clients move from feeling controlled by fear to feeling that they control fear instead. If you are looking for someone to help guide you toward feeling free from fear, please reach out!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I approach my work by considering each client as whole person; made up of their experiences and leading unique and individual lives. I use CBT and ERP to guide my work, but also incorporate a more humanistic approach to get to know my clients as they are, and the lives they envision for themselves. Once we get to know each other, I tailor strategies to clients' unique goals and life experiences. I take a gentle approach to therapy, and enjoy highlighting my client's success, as well as being a guide on their journey through life's ups and downs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Each session is about an hour long, and I usually see clients weekly. In the first session, time is mainly spent getting to know each other. I ask basic questions about your life and concerns, and we discuss goals and plans. I also take this time to answer any questions, or provide education on clients' symptoms and experiences. From there, we collaborate on ways to help you reach your goals, and work together to face the challenges that come along the way.
