Getting to know Jennifer Fitkin

Jen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Utah, Colorado, Texas and Florida, as well as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in Iowa. She has been working as a therapist for over 19 years. Jen was initially licensed in Iowa, and has physically worked in Nevada, Australia, and Utah. She started her career in a girls‚Äô residential treatment facility and has also worked in community-based settings with foster care youth and juvenile justice youth. Jen has also worked in a men‚Äôs medium security prison supporting rehabilitation and reintegration. She has worked as a therapist, clinical supervisor, deputy senior clinician and senior clinician. Most recently, Jen was the Clinical Director of a residential treatment facility working with attachment issues. Jen received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. She has received additional training in Functional Family Therapy (FFT), Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and The Good Lives Model (GLM). Jen primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing in a strengths-based approach within the GLM framework. She has experience with family, group and individual therapy. Jen enjoys the challenge of working with diverse clients. When not working, Jen enjoys traveling, hiking, paddleboarding, backpacking and camping. She likes physical challenges as well, and is a CrossFit L1 Trainer, who advocates for exercise and nutrition as an important part of maintaining good mental health. Jen also loves animals and her dog, Boomer, regularly attended with her in-person while working in Utah, and occasionally makes an appearance on telehealth sessions.

I had received a text stating that my provider would email me with the information to access the appointment. I did not receive anything prior. The provider reached out via message in another app stating she was there waiting. She mentioned something that made me think I should have received a notification from ZocDoc. It delayed the connection, but she was communicating the process as we went very well.
