Getting to know Jennifer Hickson

Greetings! I'm Jennifer. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Work Therapist in Georgia. I have been doing therapy for over 10 years now. With my clients I try to create a therapeutic environment that is warm, nonjudgmental, and where they feel comfortable enough to be their true selves. Some areas of focus I specialize in are anxiety, depression, life transitions, and self-development. In working with clients, I love to empower, encourage, and motivate them to accept themselves but to also see themselves as who they want to become. I empower clients to work towards what they think is best for them and help them combat negative thinking patterns that have prevented them from moving forward in life. Many clients I have worked with have gone through various issues: having to start over, life transitions, job related stressors, self esteem, social/family related concerns and most of the time just your typical day to day stressors. I allow clients to honestly express themselves by putting their raw feelings and emotions out there without judgment or chastisement. I’m there to support the client, hear them out, empathize, and to just let them be themselves unapologetically. Clients can unpack and identify negative thoughts as I support them in seeing things from different perspectives and ultimately changing negative thought patterns. I can also assist clients in identifying and setting goals for themselves and empower and motivate them to reach these goals. My approach to treatment is to take a holistic approach to treat the whole person, and not just certain aspects. This isn’t “just a job” for me, this is a calling.
