Getting to know Jennifer Larson
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Illinois for both in-person therapy and telehealth, Licensed in the State of Florida to provide telehealth, and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with 25 years in various aspects of the mental health field. I enjoy providing psychotherapy to individual adults, young adults, and couples who are experiencing barriers to personal, relational, and professional growth and fulfillment. My goal is to help others live a happier and more meaningful life filled with connections. I am very responsive and dedicated to my clients’ growth given my commitment to the field of helping others along with my own personal struggles and triumphs in life.
I am a relational therapist who uses a warm, strengths-based and yet, direct and challenging approach with a foundation in psychodynamic and relational approaches. I am not a purist and believe in tailoring my work to each client. Depending on your needs, I may draw from trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, body-centered, and The Gottman Method. I am a process-oriented Therapist and I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and appreciate and value multiculturalism. Additionally, I believe a key factor in achieving overall well-being and psychological health rests on developing and maintaining healthy boundaries as well as engaging in a good self-care regimen.
I earned an M.A. in Clinical Psychology at the Arizona School of Professional Psychology, graduating with honors, and obtained a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I earned membership into Psi Chi, The International Honor Society in Psychology, and Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society.
I have trained with respected psychotherapists to address the most prominent mental health and relational challenges of the day. I have received training in treating developmental and complex trauma (C-PTSD), mind-body connection, relationship issues.
