Psychotherapist
MS
I'm Jennifer McKInzie, a Licensed Professional Counselor offering telehealth therapy to adults in Mississippi and Florida. I help clients navigate anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My practice is fully virtual, which means you can access quality mental health care from anywhere in the state — no commute, no waiting room, just a private, secure video session that fits into your life. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based methods. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, solution-focused techniques, and mindfulness-based practices, tailoring each session to what you actually need rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a real conversation with someone who gets it — not a clinical interview. I work with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. Common reasons people reach out to me include persistent anxiety or panic, depression and low mood, burnout, relationship or family conflict, grief and loss, self-esteem concerns, boundary-setting, and navigating big life changes like a new job, divorce, loss, or relocation. I also work with clients processing past experiences that are still affecting their daily lives. Whether you've been in therapy before or this is your first time reaching out, I want you to feel comfortable from the first session. I'll meet you where you are, help you set goals that matter to you, and work alongside you at a pace that feels right. If we're a good fit, you'll leave our sessions with practical tools, a clearer sense of yourself, and real momentum toward the life you want. I see clients across Mississippi and Florida through secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth. I accept most major insurance plans and offer self-pay options with transparent pricing. I look forward to connecting with you and supporting your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In the many years of practicing therapy , my main approach with each client is the importance of the therapeutic rapport. The importance of having a upfront dialogue in order to help each client meet their full potential. I strive on helping each client to reach each goal that they set for themselves. I tend to provide each client with what is needed to my best ability.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the intake session I will gather information concerning reason for seeking therapy and symptoms occurring/time of occurrences. I then obtain needed background information such as symptom history, treatment history , medical history, medication history or current, educational background, family background and social background. From that gathered information a tentative diagnosis is given. CBT and talk therapy is practice mostly used. After intake session is completed, each client then will schedule their next session. In those session, I will focus on ways to help each client reduce their occurring symptoms. We will come up with ways/coping skills to help reduce their symptoms.
