What should a new client know about working with you?

As a therapist, my approach is rooted in compassion, respect, and understanding. I know how vulnerable it can feel to take this step, and I want to honor the courage it takes to seek support. My style is collaborative and nonjudgmental. I believe therapy is a partnership, and together we’ll explore what’s holding you back and work towards the goals you want to achieve. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to guide, support, and provide tools to help you navigate challenges, uncover insights, and grow into your fullest potential. I focus on creating a safe and welcoming space where you can express yourself freely, knowing you’ll be heard and validated. We’ll work at your pace, and I’ll tailor our sessions to meet your unique needs and preferences. Whether we’re addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or personal growth, I’ll help you build skills and find strengths to overcome obstacles. I draw from evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care, but I also trust the importance of flexibility and creativity in therapy. Every person is different, and I value finding what works best for you. Above all, my hope is that therapy feels like a space where you can be honest and authentic, where we can explore life’s complexities with curiosity, and where healing and change feel possible. You don’t have to face life’s struggles alone—I’m here to walk alongside you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

What to Expect in Our Work Together When we begin therapy, the first session is about getting to know you—your story, your experiences, and what brought you here. I’ll ask questions to understand your goals, challenges, and what you hope to gain from our time together. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask me questions and get comfortable with the process. Our sessions will always be tailored to you. While each meeting may vary, they typically involve a combination of checking in on how you’ve been feeling, discussing any immediate concerns or challenges, and exploring deeper patterns that may influence your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. If appropriate, I may suggest tools, exercises, or techniques to try in between sessions to support your progress. I believe in the power of creating a safe and supportive space where you can express yourself freely. Sessions often include: Exploration: We’ll dive into the emotions, thoughts, or experiences that are coming up for you. Skill-building: If you’re looking for strategies to cope with anxiety, depression, or other challenges, we’ll work together to develop practical tools you can use in everyday life. Reflection: We’ll discuss what’s working, what’s not, and how we can adjust to keep moving toward your goals. For ongoing work: Therapy is a process, and as we continue meeting, we’ll deepen our focus on your goals and uncover insights about what may be holding you back. Each session builds on the last, creating a pathway for growth and healing. If I ever suggest a specific approach or exercise, I’ll explain it thoroughly, and you’ll always have a choice in how we proceed. Your comfort and collaboration are essential to the work we do. Whether you’re seeking short-term support for a specific issue or long-term growth and exploration, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Therapy is your space, and I’m honored to be part of your journey.

More information on payments and coverage

I aim to make the financial side of therapy as clear and straightforward as possible so you can focus on your well-being. Here's an overview of how payment and insurance work in my practice: Insurance Coverage I accept MOST major insurances including Medicare. If you’re unsure whether your plan covers therapy sessions, I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to confirm details, including copayments, deductibles, and session limits. For out-of-network clients, I can provide a “superbill” (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please check with your provider for details about their reimbursement process. Payment Details Payment is due at the time of each session. I accept payment methods, e.g., credit cards, debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, checks, etc.]. If you have a copayment, coinsurance, or deductible, I will review these details with you before we start. Session Fees If you are not using insurance, my standard rate for sessions is 150-200. Please reach out if you’d like to discuss these options—I believe therapy should be accessible to everyone. Cancellations and Rescheduling If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for at least 24 hours] notice to avoid a late cancellation fee of $150. This allows me to offer the time to another client. Billing Questions I know navigating insurance and payments can feel overwhelming. If you have any questions or need clarification about costs, insurance claims, or payment options, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help make this process as smooth as possible.
