Getting to know Jennifer Paulino

Hi I’m Jennifer, my goal is to assist individuals/families with stressors that can be associated with addiction and co-occurring disorders. I am dually licensed in drug and alcohol counseling, in addition to my associate license in mental health. Throughout 5 years within my counseling career, I am aware of how the disease of addiction can hinder one's ability to function in the societal world. It would be my pleasure to guide you through life's obstacles. Within the first session, most of my clients tell me they feel like they have chatted with a friend. I approach with a realistic outlook and support through a time of need.

What should a new client know about working with you?

If you are looking for someone who relates to culture, urban life, and parenting, I am her. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY before moving to New Jersey when I became a mother. I understand the concept missing "village", environmental factors causing stress, low-income and minority neighborhoods. Everyone's needs are important. Let's chat!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Utilizing CBT, solution-based theory, client-centered, mindfulness theory, and exposure therapy define my primary approaches. Self-awareness is a priority to adjust and build confidence in new ventures. If coping with long-lasting trauma, we can address triggers and implement positive coping skills. Overall, the priority is your well-being.
