Jennifer Roach, MA

Psychotherapist
3585 N University Ave, Provo, UT
I've been there-depression, anxiety, being abused. My very first movement toward learning about mental health was so that I could understand myself. I went to college and earned a degree in psychology, then completed a Master's in Counseling at Argosy University. I couldn't have done it without my own therapy and working on my own issues. I know what it's like to struggle and work at healing. You should also know that I identify as a Christian (not the judgmental kind), and if you want to bring your faith (of any kind) into your counseling, I'm happy to do that, as it can be a great support. But counseling works whether you're a person of faith or not, and unless you actively want to integrate faith issues, I won't be pushing anything on you. I have experience working with clients who have gone through a faith crisis, who have experienced abuse in a church or religious setting, and those who would never enter a church. For years, I worked in chemical dependency treatment and loved the work. I am a licensed Substance Use Disorder counselor in addition to being a Clinical Mental Health counselor. If you'd like to work on substance abuse or addiction issues and how they intersect with your mental health, one-on-one counseling could be a great fit. I also love working with clients who are struggling with depression and anxiety. The good news is that counseling has proven tools to help make progress in this area. I'd love to help you do so.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Long before I was a therapist, I was a therapy client. I spent years - and thousands of dollars - trying to overcome some things but seemed to be just going in circles. When I was training to become a therapist, I knew I wanted to learn methods that are proven to work, and that's what I use today. Things like anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma and relationship difficulties can be effectively treated with evidence-based practices that bring relief.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you book an appointment on ZocDoc I will send you an email with all the next steps including a link to intake forms and how to join your video session. During our first session we will work together to identify you r concerns and create a plan for addressing them. We will revisit this plan every 3 to 4 months to make sure we are working on what is needed.

The appointment was set by Zocdoc and never confirmed by the therapist. I called the office multiple times because I had rescheduled work to make the appointment. Nobody answered at the office and there was no answering service. Very unprofessional in my opinion for the therapist to advertise on a service when they don't intend to return calls or keep appointments for clients.
