Getting to know Jennifer Smith

My name is Jennifer. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years experience working with adults, adolescents, and families. As a therapist I see my role as someone who is there to listen and provide guidance and insight into my client's issues. I utilize various evidenced practices in my sessions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am skilled in working with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, family and relationship issues, substance use issues. I like to use humor, challenging questions, and a direct approach because I think in counseling we should get to the point, and we should have fun doing it. I obtained a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Indiana State University. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with my husband and daughter.
