Getting to know Jennifer Suarez

I have a passion for helping individuals that have been struggling with racing thoughts/overthinking, burnout, anxiety/depression, and other difficulties that make things harder. I love working with couples to strengthen their relationship. I have over 10 years of experience working in different levels of care/populations, and helping with a wide variety of needs. I believe that therapy should be both effective and human: meaning I deliver evidence-based tools and approaches that are individualized to the unique person and I do so with warmth, humor when it helps, and always with respectful and supportive professionalism.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have experience working with individuals ages 11+ and couples helping them overcome barriers and enhance quality of life for needs related to addiction, ADHD, anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+, OCD, and other forms of neurodivergence (or neurospicy). I use a person centered and trauma-informed approach with tools that draw from CBT, MI, ERP, and DBT.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Prior to our initial intake appointment, I will contact you for a brief consultation call to go over some basic instructions and confirm that I'm a good fit for you; please know that we will need make sure that you complete the required steps no later than 2 hours prior to the scheduled session or it will need to be cancelled/rescheduled. Before your first session, I will send you some forms and assessments for you to fill out. Then in our first session I will answer any questions you may have, we will review "housekeeping" needs, discuss the issues you're experiencing in more depth, talk about the assessments you filled out ahead of time, discuss how often we will meet, set a day/time for ongoing sessions (or discuss alternative options for scheduling), and decide what goals are most important to you to work towards. Then in the sessions to follow we will begin working together towards those goals so that you can forge a path forward filled with more authenticity and balance.
