“I was recommended to Jennifer by a friend at work. I was looking for a therapist that could manage my son, who has special needs and help me help him at home. Jennifer took her time to get to know both of us and worked on a tailored plan ( not a cookie cutter approach) that really considered our needs and lifestyle. She is exceptionally creative and willing to adjust and adapt readily to my son’s ability and preferences. She remains supportive when I grow frustrated and finds ways to work with me in coping through my anxiety. I appreciate her empathy and honesty. I appreciate how dedicated she is in celebrating small successes with my son and how good he feels when he sees her. The sound of them giggling together sometimes moves me to tears. She’s a very special therapist. ”

Getting to know Jennifer Tricomi

With over 25 years of experience in education and healthcare, I bring compassionate leadership and a deep commitment to serving individuals with diverse and complex needs. My work has focused on supporting people through emotional, medical, and spiritual challenges, always guided by a person-centered, holistic approach. I hold advanced degrees and licensure in Education, Special Education, Counseling, Psychology, and Christian/Judeo Studies. This integrated academic and clinical background allows me to provide care that honors the whole person mind, body, and spirit. In addition to my role at Doria Therapeutic Services, I serve as the Senior Director of Patient Advocacy at a Level 1 trauma center hospital. I’m actively involved on the Clinical Ethics Committee and the Clinician Pastoral Education Advisory Council. I also chair the Grievance Committee and co-chair Code Lavender, a program dedicated to supporting the emotional well-being of healthcare professionals. My work is grounded in the belief that healing takes place in relationship with ourselves, with others, and with the sacred. I consider it a true privilege to walk alongside individuals and families through every stage of life’s journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I approach each patient with deep respect for their unique story—emotionally, medically, and spiritually. My care is rooted in an integrative, person-centered approach that honors the mind, body, and spirit. With over 25 years of experience in education and healthcare, I bring seasoned expertise in supporting individuals navigating complex life challenges, including trauma, grief, chronic illness, and spiritual crisis. My advanced training in counseling, psychology, special education, and theology allows me to draw from a wide range of tools and perspectives, tailored to meet each person’s individual needs. Patients can expect a respectful, nonjudgmental space where trust, confidentiality, and emotional safety are foundational to our work together. I work with my patients, not on them. I value mutual dialogue, shared goals, and active participation in the healing journey. As a leader in clinical ethics and patient advocacy, I’m highly attuned to the dignity and rights of those I serve. Patients can trust in my integrity and strong ethical compass. For those who seek it, I’m able to incorporate spiritual or faith-based perspectives into care, always honoring diverse beliefs and traditions without imposing any particular framework.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When working with me, patients can expect a warm, compassionate, and individualized approach. I begin with an initial consultation focused on building trust and understanding each person’s emotional, medical, and spiritual needs. Drawing from my diverse clinical and academic background, I conduct a holistic assessment and collaborate with patients to set meaningful, personalized goals. Therapy sessions may include evidence-based counseling, trauma-informed care, and—when desired—spiritual support. I often coordinate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive, integrated care, and I advocate strongly for my patients' dignity and well-being. As patients progress, I support ongoing reflection and a thoughtful transition process, always honoring their pace, preferences, and unique journey.

Listens carefully. Asks relevant questions. Explains things simply so you can feel educated about your diagnosis and the things that you are feeling. She is very focused and makes you feel like you always matter. If you talk to her about things that matter to you, like your religion or place in your family and she needs more information , she will ask you to teach her. I really love that because she lets you be who you are and tries to learn your perspective and traditions. It is nice to share those things with someone who appreciates that family and faith are an important part of some peoples lives. I also really like how safe she makes me feel when we talk and her way of making me feel accepted and not judged. She is a very comforting person to talk to and has as helped me a lot.
Worked with me after my dog died. I was devastated by his loss. Jen treated my grief with understanding and compassion. Helped me to get through a very sad time. Worked patiently with me and provided education and resources I needed to cope with other types of grief and loss in my life. She is extremely professional, down to earth, loving, and insightful.
Jen immediately made me feel at ease with her genuine and kind approach. She is laser focused, professional, respectful, honest and disarming. She has great emotional depth and humor. Working with her in sessions has given me insight and confidence. This is a therapist that allows you to look critically at yourself and life while allowing light to seep in through a loving spirit and laughter. Jen has a way of moving with you instinctively. She challenges me to grow in welcoming ways and is ever creative in how she does so. Salt of the earth. I feel very lucky that I found her. I highly recommend.
I went to therapy at the request of family, who were “concerned” that something was “wrong”. After seeing Jen for a short time, she gently (but firmly) encouraged me to see my primary doctor to discuss getting diagnostic tests done. Her care and attention to detail changed my life. She picked up on symptoms that could be easily missed and I was able to get the medical attention I needed. She worked with my doctor to ensure that I was thoroughly cared for every step of the way. Jen has a uniquely warm and thoughtful approach to therapy and an incredible sense of humor. She helped me to see and enjoy life in new ways. Thankful. So thankful. Recommend highly.
When our teenager hit a rough spot - we tried therapist after therapist and made no progress. We were referred to Jen by colleague who told us that she “speaks teenager”. Well, she not only speaks it, she’s fluent in it! We saw our daughter grow stronger through the months with Jen, and she genuinely adores her. As a family we we are thankful for the love and kindness shown to each of us. She is very patient, very intuitive, and has a keen sense of what is meaningful to her patients and the parents who love them. We highly highly recommend!
Jen has been a God send. She walked with me through all stages of my illness and recovery. She is dependable, thoughtful, and encouraging. She is very resourceful and pays close attention to detail. I always feel like I matter. Can’t say enough about how grateful I am to have found her! Excellent therapist. Beautiful human being!
