Getting to know Jennifer Tucker

Hi! I'm Jen Tucker, a licensed mental health counselor with a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Shippensburg University. I'm passionate about serving others. I'm also a wife, mom, short order cook, taxi driver, cheerleader, housekeeper-wearing all the hats those roles carry. I'm a military veteran and a military spouse. I've been through a lot in my life. Most of you have too. After all, you find yourself here looking for something. It is my firm belief that each and every one of us has tremendous potential. We all have unique talents and skills, honed and sharpened through our life experiences. These experiences, while crucial to shaping us, can also leave us hurt, confused, numb, or insecure. It is paramount that we stop along our journey to take stock, address our needs, heal, and refocus. Sometimes, we realize we may benefit from having extra support or guidance through these moments. That is where therapy can help. Throughout my counseling career, I have had the privilege of walking beside clients as they process the past, learn to be comfortable in the present, and get excited for the future. I am certified in trauma and DBT, and treat clients with a wide range of concerns. Whether you feel ready to dive into therapy or are just contemplating the idea, I'd love to hear from you. I am currently accepting video clients but am open to in-person if needed. Reach out and we can discuss. If you aren't ready to make contact, I have some resources available for self-reflection. Check out my blog at NotWavingButDrowning.org or my TikTok @MHMinute, where you'll find videos on a variety of mental health topics.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a client, you can expect that I will meet you where you are, offering a nonjudgmental and supportive environment to focus on your specific goals. While our sessions may include some skill-building to improve functioning, I find that a lot of healing and growth takes place when we can dig deeper to discover underlying schemas and dysfunctional beliefs that may have once served you well, but are now holding you back. After all, the links between our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors can be complex and sometimes difficult to see. This is an active and flexible process, and one that is completely within your control.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Jennifer has been amazing since connecting with her in the spring! She challenges me in ways I never thought about before. I felt safe and comfortable since that first day and I know she will help me understand myself better.
I would have checked all of the above!
I have never tried therapy before and I wish I had done it sooner. She is a neutral person who listens, ask questions and allows you to be in the process to finding direction/answers. I look forward to our sessions.
Jen has been amazing. She has been very helpful in keeping me in check with my thoughts. She offers different perspectives for me to think about through our journey.
Only therapist I’ve ever felt like they understand me and help my make discoveries about myself I can’t see with great insight.
Has definitely changed my life for the better helped me find confidence within myself and to see what strengths I bring to the world while also allowing me to improve upon my personal weaknesses
I am so thankful to have found Jen. In the short time I have met with her, my anxiety has decreased and she has helped me address key issues. She makes me feel safe to be open and honest and is overall just a kind and intelligent person. I could not recommend her more!
There are so many positive things I have to say about my sessions with Jen. She is challenging, honest, and she truly understands me. I feel safe with her and never judged. They say when you find a therapist and it clicks... it clicks. Well it clicks! I look forward to my weekly sessions, even if I know they won't be easy. Thank you, Jen.
