Welcome. My name is Jay Unterberg, Ph.D. I'm a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst who has been practicing since 2003. I work with individuals and couples, in person and via teletherapy. I'm happy to schedule a consultation, so you can get a feel for what it's like to talk with me. I'll look forward to listening to you and learning about your interest in therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Psychoanalytic therapy and psychoanalysis can lead to deep and lasting change, and can help you resolve a wide range of issues. Learning more about yourself can have many benefits, including more satisfying personal relationships, greater self acceptance, relief from distress, and a richer experience of life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As your therapist, I will invite you to come into each session as you are and express yourself fully. This may be a welcomed respite from all of the pressures to perform. I strive to create an environment where you can feel safe to express your most intimate thoughts and feelings. Together, we will work to understand all that has shaped your experiences and narratives, so that you may feel understood, unstuck, and able to pursue your dreams and desires more fully and freely.
