Hi there, I'm Jennifer! Hello, my name is Jennifer S. Vasquez. I am a Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from Texas State University. I specialize in working with teens and adults who are diagnosed with anxiety, depression, or those who are struggling with life right now. My approach My approach to therapy focuses on utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, where the client will learn to focus on how they think and then how that ties into how they feel and, ultimately, their actions. By changing their thoughts, clients will learn to change how they feel and what they do. My focus I typically work with teens and young and middle-aged adults. My typical client struggles with anxiety, depression, or life stressors. My communication style I like to focus on strengths and utilize the strengths perspective when engaging with clients. I believe in enhancing clients' self-esteem and ensuring they are the focus of our sessions. My goal is to ensure that clients can be completely transparent in an environment free of judgment. My journey to therapy I have worked in a mental health setting for over 15 years. During that time, I found the importance of clients engaging with excellent therapists to ensure more positive outcomes. That said, I became interested in obtaining my clinical license so that I could do more than assess for mental wellness but also engage with treatment. My goals for you It is extremely important for me to have my clients actively engaged in setting their goals as we begin to work together. My first session with you During our first session, I will focus on engaging, building rapport, assessing for safety, and gaining a sense of the goals the client hopes to achieve in therapy.
