Getting to know Jennifer Velekei
In today's busy society, feeling stuck in life, depressed, anxious, stressed, or unsure of ourselves can be a common occurrence. I can help. I collaborate with and empower individuals who experience a range of difficulties in their lives. I have experience working with adults diagnosed with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychotic disorders, in addition to helping individuals who experience problems with anger, effective communication, appropriate boundaries, and managing stressors and life changes. Previously, I have worked in psychiatric rehabilitation, partial hospitalization, and outpatient individual therapy.
I earned my Master's in Clinical Psychology from Millersville University and hold a Bachelor's degree from York College of Pennsylvania. I believe the foundation for effective therapy is a strong therapeutic relationship. Because of this, I enjoy taking the time to really get to know you as a person to begin to build a foundation together. I work collaboratively with you to learn your needs and goals in order to select the most appropriate interventions for your unique situation. I strive to create an environment that is safe, supportive, and sensitive to differences in culture and sexual/gender identity. I practice an eclectic therapy style that is humanistic, trauma-informed, person-centered, and utilizes interventions from modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness.
