Getting to know Jerred England
Jerred is a licensed marriage and family therapist. He spent his teenage years in Edmond before graduating from Oklahoma Christian University in 2004. While serving in the local church, Jerred earned his Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Amridge University in 2012. In 2015, he became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and worked in Mid-Del providing outpatient and school-based services. He has also done pastoral counseling for individuals, couples, and families. Jerred joined other private practice therapists at NewPath12:2 Counseling in 2020.
As a Christian, Jerred strives to incorporate the faith of his clients into therapy when appropriate. Faith can serve as a marker and bolster hope in our relationships.
Jerred also enjoys public speaking on topics both biblical and psychological in nature. When not counseling, you can usually find Jerred outdoors with his family, either hiking or fishing. His dog Baker has become the England family mascot.
What should a new client know about working with you?
If can be difficult. When starting therapy with Jerred, you should know a lifetime of therapy is not the goal. Using therapy approaches that are researched, Jerred will teach you skills to navigate your life to enhance your self-worth and relationships.
Jerred uses cognitive-behavioral therapy with many clients who are suffering depression and anxiety. This approach is well researched and easily understood. We simply work to get the client out of their own head, which many spend much of their day.
For marriage related issues, Jerred is trained as a Gottman Method therapist. Again, this model is well researched and let's Jerred serve as a coach instead of a referee.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Our first session is called Intake. In this first session, we'll discuss your problem and you'll tell Jerred your hopes for therapy. After it, we'll begin our time addressing ways to achieve your goal. Many times, Jerred will teach you skills to use outside of session so you can overcome your problem. You'll have homework to do in between sessions to help you achieve your goals, too.
