“I’ve been working with Jerry for several months, and I can’t say enough about the impact he’s had on my life. When I first came to him, I was overwhelmed by grief and constant anxiety. Jerry created a space where I felt truly heard, understood, and safe to process everything I’d been carrying. He has a calm, grounding presence and a way of guiding conversations that helped me make sense of emotions I struggled to articulate. Jerry never rushed me—he met me exactly where I was and helped me move forward at a pace that felt comfortable and empowering. His insights were both compassionate and practical, giving me tools I could use in daily life. Thanks to our work together, I’ve gained clarity, confidence, and a genuine sense of peace I didn’t think was possible again. I’m deeply grateful for his support and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who is struggling with grief, anxiety, or navigating difficult chapters of life.”

Getting to know Jerry Utt

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Trauma Therapist with over thirty years of experience helping individuals overcome challenges, heal from trauma, and create meaningful change. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, guiding people through moments of crisis, transition, and growth. My work is rooted in the belief that change begins with connection, and that every person has the capacity for healing and resilience. My professional specialties encompass a wide range of treatment approaches and focus areas designed to meet the unique needs of each individual. I incorporate evidence-based methods such as Christian Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Trauma-Focused interventions, Mindfulness-Based practices, and Client-Centered Therapy. These approaches allow me to tailor treatment to each client’s goals, values, and experiences.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with clients across diverse backgrounds and life stages, addressing concerns that include adolescent and teen issues, anger management, antisocial personality patterns, anxiety, behavioral difficulties, bipolar disorder, coping skills, depression, dual diagnosis, emotional disturbance, impulse control disorders, and mood disorders. In our first session, my goal is to get to know you—to understand your story, your motivation for change, and what you hope to achieve. From there, we begin shaping a path forward together. Your goals guide the process; my role is to provide the tools, structure, and support to help you reach them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My first goal in therapy is to build a safe, trusting, and collaborative relationship. Together, we identify your goals and develop a plan that aligns with your strengths and needs. I specialize in crisis intervention and use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) as my primary approach, helping clients find practical steps toward lasting improvement. When appropriate, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques to support emotional regulation and personal growth. Many clients come to me when “nothing seems to work,” and I am skilled at helping them rediscover hope and direction. My communication style is both compassionate and clear. I can be directive when working with clients in crisis or those dealing with specific behavioral challenges, but my overall approach is nonjudgmental and client-centered. I believe therapy should feel like a supportive partnership where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. In our first session, my goal is to get to know you—to understand your story, your motivation for change, and what you hope to achieve. From there, we begin shaping a path forward together. Your goals guide the process; my role is to provide the tools, structure, and support to help you reach them.

I have been in therapy off and on for a very long time. I cannot remember a time when I felt so comfortable at such an early stage of the treatment process. Jerry has a way of connecting with you on a personal level. This make you feel you can share anything with him. His knowledge about my problems was extensive and right on point. would recommend him to anyone.
