Psychotherapist
WA
Hi there, I'm Jerry! Are you ready to live a better you? You are taking the first step in attaining peace of mind, and I respect and applaud you for doing so. I have a Master's degree in Social Work from Portland State University and over 40 years of experience working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have had my private practice, Pathways to Peace, for the last 20 years, while working in community mental health and E.R. crisis intervention for over 15 years (confirm length of time). In 2014, I also began working with OCD patients utilizing exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy. My real passion lies with my private practice, where the years of experience in various mental health settings working with a diverse population have been invaluable and have molded who I am as a therapist today. My approach I use a cognitive behavioral approach (which means our thoughts can influence and ultimately affect our behaviors) with a large dose of humor, empathy, safety, and compassion. People say I have a calming presence, and they learn quickly that they can trust me. I believe that once we feel safe sharing our thoughts and feelings, we can change our behavioral patterns through hard work, introspection, and insight. If you are willing to put in the work, so am I. I also utilize a solution-focused therapy. By focusing on what has worked for you in your past and what hasn’t worked as well when you have made changes, together we can develop lasting habits and coping methods that will help you deal with future life changes. My focus I specialize in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in finding their way to better communication; decreasing symptoms of sadness, anger, loss, and worry; coping with trauma and PTSD; improving their relationships, as well as gaining improvement in their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. I’m currently seeing clients by video and phone, offering individual, couple, and group sessions.
