Jesse Adams, LCSW

Psychotherapist
MS
Hi there, I'm Jesse! I am a native of New Orleans, who moved to Oxford, MS in 2002. I received my Bachelor's from New York University and went on to Tulane University to complete my Masters in Social Work. I am an LCSW who has worked in the field in various settings for over twenty years. My approach Sometimes, we need someone to talk to who is not a family member or a friend—someone who is professional, clinically trained, ethical, and will keep things confidential. I aim to help clients change what needs to be changed, accept what cannot be changed, and know the difference. My role is to support clients with effective therapy that re-frames how they see their problems. Sometimes, the biggest problem is how we think about our problems. My approach is non-judgemental and compassionate. My focus I work best with clients who know what their goals for therapy are. I hope you will enter the session ready to work. I hope you will have a lot to talk about. However, sometimes our emotional states and our goals can be a bit unclear to us. That is completely understandable and ok, too. If you can't always quite identify what you wish to discuss, I will be there to ask questions and provide guidance. My communication style I will be empathic but direct. I will be ruthlessly compassionate, meaning I will stand up to you for you if I feel you are underestimating yourself or being unkind to yourself. I will never intend to make you feel uncomfortable, but I do believe that your therapist is not doing their job if they don't challenge you from time to time. My journey to mental healthcare I was always someone that people felt comfortable talking to. This dates back to my childhood. As I grew older, I realized that people sharing their issues with me and my providing an effective response was never a bother or a chore. It actually was something that I realized I was good at.
