As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider (LPC/MHSP) in Tennessee, I believe healing and growth come not only from insight, but more importantly from action. I often remind clients: “You can’t fix a broke thinker with a broke thinker. You must behave yourself into better thinking.” Meaningful change begins with behavior, and new actions create new outcomes. Therapy with me is a collaborative process. You are the expert in your own experience, and my role is to listen, reflect, and at times challenge you with perspectives you may not expect. Together, we explore not just thoughts and emotions but also the patterns of behavior that shape your life. By testing new approaches in everyday situations and reflecting on them in session, therapy becomes a place to practice, to model, and to grow. I work with individuals facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, substance use, and life transitions. My style is direct but compassionate. I offer encouragement when it is earned, and I challenge when it is needed. While exploring “why” has its place, I emphasize the “what now” and “what next.” Above all, I believe every person has the capacity for change, no matter their history or current struggles. My goal is to help you discover that capacity within yourself and guide you as you put it into action. Therapy with me is not about perfection—it’s about progress, resilience, and building a life that reflects your values.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a licensed therapist with a background in psychology, behavioral neuroscience, and mental health counseling. Over the course of my career, I have worked with a wide range of individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. My approach is direct, clear, and practical. I believe therapy should provide insight that is both honest and useful, rather than relying on vague or repetitive clichés. Clients often describe my style as straightforward and refreshingly unpretentious. I integrate humor and plainspoken truth into sessions as a way to make difficult topics easier to process and remember. At the core of my practice is the belief that meaningful change comes from clarity and accountability. I aim to help clients see patterns more clearly, confront challenges directly, and develop strategies that work in real life. If you are looking for therapy that is grounded, insightful, and effective, I welcome the opportunity to work with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe change begins with action. Thinking and insight are important, but lasting growth comes when we practice new behaviors that shape healthier patterns. My role is to provide a safe, honest space where clients can explore challenges, clarify goals, and develop tools for change. The first sessions focus on listening—your story, your concerns, and what you want to accomplish. Together, we identify clear goals and practical steps. I emphasize behavior, because it is the one thing fully under our control. Old habits form deep grooves in the brain, and my job is to help you create new pathways that move you closer to the life you want. I use direct, straightforward communication. I will challenge you when necessary, but always with respect and compassion. We may explore the beliefs and emotions behind your choices, but the priority is what you do and how your actions shape your future. I often ask clients to paraphrase what they hear from me—because what you hear often reveals your deeper beliefs, goals, or fears. I work with language differently than many therapists. Words matter, and labels can either trap us or give us freedom. We may test out new words and challenge our understanding of old words and ideas to create new ways of looking at ourselves, others, and events, helping us see ourselves more clearly. Each session is a microcosm—a place to practice honesty, trust, and congruent behavior. I model the same authenticity I expect from my clients. Over time, this process builds confidence, resilience, and the ability to navigate life’s challenges without being overwhelmed by them. You don’t need to feel “ready” to change. You just need to start. Together, we will find practical steps that help you behave your way into better thinking, stronger relationships, and a more meaningful life.
