Hi there, I'm Jesse! I am an EMDR certified counselor who specializes in trauma, in all of its many forms. I also have years of experience working with grief, disability issues, substance use disorders, self-harming behaviors, lgbt issues, and providing gender affirming care. My focus I use evidence based therapies that are designed to measurably decrease symptoms. My approach I work from an Existential and Feminist perspective that is inclusive, nonjudgmental, and practical. This work is my passion, and I am dedicated to providing my clients with skillfully delivered and effective therapies. Counseling is meant to yield results, and I am careful to employ methods that are well supported by evidence. My communication style I am straightforward and genuine. I will treat you with respect and act with humility. My journey to mental healthcare I began my career as a peer counselor for people with mental health disabilities and worked in that role throughout graduate school. I developed a passion for EMDR therapy after experiencing its efficacy firsthand, and since then, I have devoted my career to helping people overcome their mental health struggles through exposure therapies. My goals for you Your brain is a complicated machine that sometimes needs a tune up! Our first session During our first session, I will ask you a bunch of questions about yourself, your goals, and your history, and then...we'll make a plan! You can also ask me questions about myself and the therapies that I propose to use with you. It's important that you understand why I'm doing what I'm doing!
