Getting to know Jessica Baltazar

Jessica Baltazar, LMSW, is a licensed clinical social worker at Jeanes Mental Health Services (JMHS) with over a decade of experience providing compassionate and effective therapy to individuals, families, and groups. She earned her Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University, grounding her practice in rigorous academic training. As a bilingual professional fluent in Spanish, she is committed to serving diverse populations with cultural competence and sensitivity, ensuring that every client feels seen, heard, and valued. Jessica creates a safe and inclusive environment that honors each client's unique background and experiences. She integrates the core values of social work—service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence—into her everyday practice and personal life. Jessica specializes in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and trauma-focused, evidence-based therapies to support clients in managing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. She fosters a warm and collaborative therapeutic space, empowering clients to build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and achieve personal growth. “None but ourselves can free our minds.” — Bob Marley

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy is grounded in three principles that I hold as truths. 1. A good therapist is aware that they do not have the answers but the tools to help the client find the answers. 2. Life is full of lessons that constantly repeat themselves. These lessons are designed to teach us the tools needed to be the best versions of ourselves. 3. Everything we experience is designed for our good. It is our job to find the good in challenges and grow into the best possible version of ourselves.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At our first meeting, I want to truly understand what brought you here. I often rely on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because of its transformative power. Together, we'll uncover how your thoughts shape your emotions. I'm here to support and guide you, helping you challenge those thoughts. Let's work side by side, paving your path to greater emotional peace and clarity.

I have been doing couples therapy with Jessica and she is wonderful. She has really helped my partner and I communicate better. Couldn't recommend her more.
Working with Jessica for DBT therapy has been an absolute blessing. Her expertise, genuine care, and dedication have had a profound impact on my healing journey. Jessica creates a safe, non-judgmental space where I felt heard and understood. Her DBT techniques and ability to break them into practical terms helped me develop essential skills for managing distress and regulating emotions. Jessica unwavering commitment make her an exceptional therapist. I wholeheartedly recommend her as a compassionate guide for anyone seeking healing and growth.
Best therapist I've ever had!
I couldn't be happier with my choice of Jessica.
Jessica is not just an amazing therapist, but a true ally on my journey towards healing. From our first session, I felt an instant connection and a sense of genuine care. Her ability to truly listen and understand my concerns has been transformative.
Jessica was both professional and accommodating in their care. She referred me to specific materials for my well being journey.
I have been to a bunch of therapists in the past. Jessica is the best out of all of them. Her knowledge, kindness and expertise is unmatched.
I had Jessica as my counselor. I would recommend her. She provided exceptional care, support, and guidance. I am extremely grateful for their time, understanding, and honest insights. A very positive experience.
She is a counselor and probably has heard a little of everything, so is is no judgement. She doesn't do surface; she gets to the root and gives you different ways to handle trauma. I'm learning if you stay on the surface, you never get to the root.
Jessica was absolutely amazing and helped me through a very difficult period in my life. She doesn't solve problems, but presents them to you in a way for you to solve them and helps you fashion your own tools to do so. I can't recommend her highly enough and she is incredibly valuable asset to this place.
