I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Perinatal Mental Health provider with more than 17 years of experience in the mental health field. I am also a Certified EMDR Therapist and have completed Levels 1 and 2 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy training. Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of settings, including inpatient treatment, intensive outpatient programs, university counseling, community mental health, and private practice. These experiences have shaped my understanding that meaningful change begins with a trusting relationship and care that considers the whole person. I work with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, addiction and recovery, grief and loss, pregnancy and postpartum concerns, parenting transitions, relationship challenges, and chronic illness or pain. I have a particular passion for supporting women and parents during periods of change, as well as individuals who feel stuck in patterns shaped by difficult or overwhelming experiences. My approach is warm, direct, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I draw from EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based approaches while tailoring treatment to each client’s needs, strengths, and goals. I believe therapy should offer both a supportive place to feel heard and practical tools that can be used outside of sessions. I strive to create an inclusive, affirming environment where clients can show up as they are. Together, we will identify what is no longer working, build on the strengths you already possess, and move toward greater joy, purpose, and balance in your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable, respected, and actively involved in the process. My style is warm, conversational, and collaborative, while also being direct when it may help you recognize patterns or move toward meaningful change. You can expect a supportive, judgment-free space where we can talk honestly about what you are experiencing. During our first few sessions, I will take time to understand your history, current concerns, strengths, and goals. We will work together to develop a treatment plan that feels realistic and relevant to your life. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, so I adjust the pace and methods we use based on your needs and comfort level. Depending on your goals, our work may include EMDR, cognitive behavioral strategies, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, practical coping skills, or relationship-focused interventions. Some sessions may involve processing past experiences, while others may focus on solving current problems, practicing new skills, or preparing for challenges outside of therapy. I will never expect you to share more than you are ready to discuss. At the same time, I will encourage you to remain curious, practice new ways of responding, and take an active role in your growth. My goal is for you to leave sessions feeling understood, supported, and equipped with tools you can use in everyday life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session will focus on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We will discuss your current concerns, relevant history, strengths, support system, and what you hope will be different as a result of our work together. You are welcome to ask questions, and we will begin identifying goals and a treatment approach that feels comfortable and practical for you. After the initial session, we will typically begin by checking in on how you have been feeling and whether anything important has happened since we last met. From there, we may explore a current challenge, identify patterns in your thoughts or relationships, process a past experience, or practice coping and communication skills. When using EMDR, we will spend time building preparation and stabilization skills before beginning trauma processing. Sessions are collaborative and tailored to what you need that day while still keeping your broader goals in mind. Some sessions may feel reflective and emotionally focused, while others may be more structured and solution-oriented. When helpful, we may identify strategies or small steps for you to practice between visits. We will regularly review your progress and adjust our work as your needs change. My goal is for each session to feel purposeful, supportive, and connected to the changes you want to make in your life.
